Frequently Asked Questions

Is this right for my kind of business?

I work primarily with entrepreneurs and owner-led businesses, including consultants, professional service providers, creators, creatives, and other growing businesses. You don’t need to fit into a specific industry, I’m most interested in working with business owners who want to better understand their finances and be more intentional about where their business is going.

Do I need to be incorporated to work with you?

Not at all. I work with both self-employed individuals and incorporated businesses. If you're wondering whether it's time to incorporate, I can help you understand what it could mean for you from a tax and financial perspective based on your income, goals, and circumstances.

What can I expect from our discovery call?

We'll talk about your business, how you're currently managing your finances, what's feeling stressful or unclear, and where you'd like more support. I'll walk you through how I work, the services that might make sense for you, and pricing so you can decide if we're a good fit.

Can you help me figure out what I can write off?

Yes. If you've ever wondered, "Can I expense this?" — that's exactly the kind of question I can help with. We'll look at how Canadian tax rules apply to your business expenses, including things like travel, meals, equipment, home office costs, and content-related purchases. What's deductible depends on the expense and its business purpose, so we'll make sure you're approaching it correctly.

Can we work together virtually?

Yes. Everything is designed to be handled virtually through secure, digital systems, so we can work together wherever you're based.

Can you tell me where or how to invest my money?

I don't provide investment advice, but I can help you understand the bigger financial picture around your decisions — including cash flow, budgeting, tax planning, and potential tax implications. When needed, I'm also happy to work alongside your investment advisor, lawyer, or other professionals so your financial strategy works together.

Do you offer one-time consultations?

Yes. While I love building ongoing relationships with clients, I also offer one-time advisory sessions and financial reviews for specific questions or decisions, such as incorporation, tax planning, business structure, or understanding the financial health of your business.
